NLC is the European healthtech venture builder, bringing science-based healthtech inventions to life. They do this by connecting the latest scientific innovations from leading researchers to all the components needed to transform them from ideas to reality. Here at ADC, we were delighted to have the opportunity to contribute towards NLC’s mission ‘to bring science to life’.
A key activity for NLC is the identification of the newest health related discoveries, and we were asked to investigate whether a data-driven approach could complement their existing scouting activities. With tens of thousands of potentially relevant scientific articles being published each week, manually surveying the latest publications is simply not feasible. The goal was to develop a prototype for a system that would scan the latest academic literature and use the latest machine learning techniques to make selections based on the preferences of NLC. Although formally the assignment was to purely demonstrate proof of concept, we adopted our usual solution-driven mind-set to exceed expectations by delivering a fully working minimum viable product (MVP).
“We were impressed by the speed of ADC in delivering a first prototype as well as the way they integrated our thoughts and wishes into their process.” –
Willem Fontijn – Technology Strategist, NLC
After the initial success of the MVP, we have continued our collaboration to further develop the recommender system, and both parties are looking forward to seeing the leads generated from the system evolve into life-changing healthtech ventures.
