Scalability is key towards data-driven transformation. DevOps teams should be able to maintain pace and not be tempored by the availability of (virtual) IT resources, but (virtual) IT resources should be optimised for costs and maintenance. By laying ownership (and budget) of virtual IT resources in teams and providing platforms to self-manage resources a significant cost reduction can be realised. We realised a structural cost reduction of 25%, while maintaining performance of applications and fallback security.

We mananged cost effective scalabilty for large international bank on the following dimensions:

  • Identifing all servers (> 5k) and arranging commited ownsership of all servers
  • Providing dashboarding of server utilisation
  • Providing platform for self-managing server resources (such as up or downscaling number of CPUs)
  • Facilitated a bulk clean-up with structual cost reduction of 25% (serveral millions euro).
